Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 1, 2026

1. Who We Are and What This Policy Covers

Peel is operated by Klip Studio LLC, a California limited liability company. Our mailing address is 2715 S. Norfolk St Apt 209, San Mateo, CA 94403. Contact us at support@trypeel.app about this policy or your personal information.

This policy covers the Peel app for iPhone and iPad, trypeel.app, and related account, recipe import, sharing, subscription, and support services. Klip Studio LLC is responsible for determining how personal information is used in these services.

2. Information We Collect

Account and profile information. We collect an account identifier, display name, email address when provided, sign-in provider identifiers, username, optional profile photo or color, support code, settings, and account timestamps. Guest accounts also have an account identifier even if no email address is provided. Email/password authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication; we do not store your plaintext password in your Peel profile. Apple or Google sign-in supplies the account information you authorize that provider to share.

Recipes and kitchen information. We store recipes you create or import, source URLs, ingredients, instructions, recipe images, notes, collections, meal plans, grocery lists, kitchen memberships, invitations, and related activity. We also process connections, recipe-sharing records, and published Peel Codes when you use those features.

Import content. Depending on the import method, we process web page or social post content, recipe metadata, captions, transcripts, images, and text recognized from photos. Import requests and diagnostic records may include your account and kitchen identifiers, source URL, processing status, timestamps, and errors.

Support and feedback. When you contact support, we collect your message, replies, email address, account identifiers, support code, app version, and conversation activity. Feedback submissions may include a title, description, author display name, votes, and status. Support conversations are private to you and support; feedback submitted to the community feedback area may be visible to other users.

Subscription information. We receive and store Apple transaction and subscription information, including product and transaction identifiers, purchase dates, subscription status, renewals, trial information, and entitlement details. Apple processes payments. We do not receive your full payment card details.

Usage and diagnostics. We collect app and website interactions, device and operating-system information, app version, installation or analytics identifiers, IP addresses in service and diagnostic records, timestamps, performance information, errors, and crash reports. App analytics and crash reports can be associated with your Peel account identifier; they are not necessarily anonymous.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to authenticate accounts, recover guest accounts, sync and display kitchen content, import and organize recipes, manage sharing, verify subscription access, provide reminders and support, and operate the website. We also use usage and diagnostic data to measure feature use and acquisition, improve reliability, investigate errors and abuse, secure the service, and meet applicable legal obligations.

AI-assisted imports. We use AI providers, including Google's Gemini API, to extract or structure recipe information from web and social content, transcripts, and text recognized from photos. Relevant import content is sent to the provider to process your request. It may include personal information contained in the source content you submit. This is processing for the import feature, not training a model.

We do not use your personal information or individual recipe content to train our own machine learning models. Our production Gemini API uses paid services; Google's paid API terms state that submitted prompts and responses are not used to improve Google's products. Providers may retain information for security, abuse prevention, and other purposes described in their applicable terms. See Google's Gemini API terms. We will update this policy and obtain consent where required before introducing materially different uses.

4. Service Providers and Other Disclosures

We disclose information to providers as needed to operate the service, including:

(a) Google Firebase and Google Cloud: authentication, databases, file storage, server processing, and infrastructure;

(b) Firebase Analytics / Google Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics: app and website usage measurement, diagnostics, and crash reporting;

(c) AI and import-processing providers: the source content needed to retrieve, recognize, or structure recipe information, including Google's Gemini API;

(d) Apple: purchases, subscriptions, transaction validation, and account sign-in when you choose Sign in with Apple;

(e) Support and communication providers: handling email and service operations. Internal support alerts may contain a support code and a link to the support tool.

Attribution. App versions that include AppsFlyer use it to measure installations and selected registration, onboarding, trial, and subscription events. These events may include a Peel account identifier, installation or device identifiers, subscription product, and purchase value and currency. Partner sharing depends on the attribution settings and applicable privacy requirements.

Providers process information under the terms and privacy arrangements applicable to the services we use. Apple and other services you interact with directly also process information under their own privacy policies. See Firebase privacy information, AppsFlyer's services privacy policy, and Apple's privacy policy.

We may disclose information when required by law, to protect users and the service, to investigate abuse or disputes, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer. Copyright notices and counter-notices may be forwarded to affected parties as described in our DMCA Policy. We may use or disclose aggregate or genuinely de-identified information that cannot reasonably identify you. An account identifier alone does not make data anonymous.

5. Sharing with Other Users

Kitchen members can access content shared within that kitchen according to their membership. Users you connect or share with may see your display name, username, profile image, and the content you send. Publishing a Peel Code makes its shared recipe and associated publisher information available to people who have or discover the code. A code is not a private-access control.

Other users may save their own copies of shared recipes. Removing a share does not automatically remove copies already imported by someone else. Avoid putting private information into public recipes or feedback. For concerns about personal information in shared content, contact support.

6. Website Analytics, Storage, and Privacy Choices

trypeel.app uses Google Analytics to measure page visits, acquisition, and clicks on App Store links. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar identifiers. The website also uses tab-scoped session storage to remember the first recognized entry page for App Store campaign attribution, with a 30-minute inactivity window. That entry record stores a page path and timestamp, not a visitor identifier, query string, or external referrer URL.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser, use content-blocking tools, or use Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on where supported. These browser controls do not necessarily affect analytics collected in the app.

The website currently does not change its analytics behavior in response to a browser Do Not Track signal. Third-party analytics services may collect information about activity over time and across services under their own privacy arrangements. A browser signal is not the same as an iOS permission setting. Contact support about additional privacy choices or rights that apply in your location.

We do not sell your personal information for money. Our use of service providers and acquisition measurement is described above. Where applicable law gives you rights to opt out of a sale, sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, or targeted advertising, contact us to exercise those rights.

7. Device Permissions and Notifications

You may choose to use the camera or photo picker to import recipes or select images. You can control permissions in iOS Settings. Text recognized from an import photo may be uploaded for recipe extraction. Selecting a photo for upload sends that selected content to the service; it does not give us unrestricted access to your entire photo library.

With your permission, Peel schedules local notifications on your device for meal planning, trial reminders, grocery shopping, and other app reminders. You can disable notifications in iOS Settings or adjust available reminder settings in Peel. Network access is used to sync and import content.

8. Retention and Account Deletion

We retain account and kitchen information while needed to provide the service. Retention also depends on the type of information and any support, security, accounting, or legal purpose that continues after an account closes. Import diagnostic records, analytics, transaction records, and backups have separate lifecycles; we do not promise that all systems erase every record at the instant an account is deleted.

You can initiate account deletion in Peel's account settings or contact support@trypeel.app. The account deletion flow removes your main account profile and kitchen memberships. Some records may require additional cleanup or support follow-up, including a request to exercise your privacy rights.

Shared and published content. Some shared-kitchen content remains available to other members. Published Peel Codes can remain available after account deletion, and a previously published username may remain reserved. Recipes already saved by recipients may also remain in their collections. If you want published content removed, unpublish your codes before deleting your account or contact support. Contact us to request removal of personal information in any retained content; applicable privacy rights still apply.

We may retain records needed to handle support matters, disputes, fraud prevention, transactions, or legal requirements, and genuinely de-identified statistics. Backup and provider-held copies may persist after active-system deletion until deleted or overwritten under the relevant retention process.

Deleting a Peel account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Manage or cancel it separately in your Apple account subscription settings.

9. Your Rights and Requests

Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have rights to access, receive a portable copy of, correct, or delete personal information; object to or restrict processing; withdraw consent; or opt out of particular uses or disclosures. You may also complain to an applicable privacy regulator. Withdrawal of consent does not affect earlier processing that was lawful.

Contact support@trypeel.app to make a request. We may need to verify your identity or an authorized agent's authority. We respond within the period required by applicable law and explain any permitted extension or exception. We will not discriminate against you for exercising rights.

California. Where the CCPA/CPRA applies, California residents may request access to categories and specific pieces of personal information, information about sources, purposes and disclosures, correction, deletion, and applicable opt-outs or limits on sensitive-information use. Categories, sources, purposes, and recipients are described in Sections 2 through 6. The CCPA's frequency limit for certain access requests does not apply to every type of privacy request.

EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland. Depending on the applicable law and circumstances, these rights include access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, withdrawal of consent, and complaints to a supervisory authority. Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, our grounds for processing include performing the service contract, legitimate interests in service reliability and security, consent where required, and legal obligations. Switzerland has its own applicable data protection law.

10. International Processing

Peel serves users in multiple countries. Information is processed in the United States and may be processed in other countries where our providers operate. Privacy laws and protections can differ by country. International transfers subject to data protection restrictions require an applicable transfer mechanism, such as an adequacy decision or contractual safeguards. Contact us for information about the safeguards applicable to your information. Using Peel does not waive your statutory privacy rights.

11. Security

We use cloud infrastructure, encrypted network connections, authentication, and access controls to protect information. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keep your account credentials secure and contact support if you suspect unauthorized access. Nothing in this policy limits obligations or rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

12. Age Requirements

Our Terms of Service require users to be at least 18. The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact support so we can investigate and take appropriate deletion steps.

13. External Links and Changes to This Policy

Recipe source websites and other services you visit have their own policies. This policy does not govern their independent practices.

We update the date above when this policy changes. For material changes, we will provide appropriate notice through the app, website, or email, and obtain consent where required. This notice explains our practices; reading it or continuing to use Peel is not a substitute for consent where the law requires consent.
